Bipartisan legislation passed the house Wednesday to prevent President Joe Biden’s Department of Energy from adding new strict regulations on gas stoves. The bill was backed by 29 Democrats who voted with the GOP on this amendment.
Florida Congressman Byron Donalds joined The National Desk’s Jan Jeffcoat Thursday morning to discuss the issue.
“The Department of Energy came out with this silly proposal about wanting to ban gas stoves, something that millions of Americans have used, enjoyed and loved,” he said. “But they wanted to take this to rule-making as opposed to just letting the market and commerce dictate it.”
In February, the DE proposed new energy conservation standards that would require removing most existing gas stove models from the market.
Donalds says that gas stoves are not a clear and present danger to America’s energy security, adding, “I'm glad that they were Democrats who joined us in this common sense piece of legislation.”
