According to new state test results known as MCAP (Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program), at least 23 schools, including elementary middle and high schools, have zero students proficient in math.

“They go there to get babysat for eight hours and come home,” said Nichelle Watkins, a Baltimore City parent.

“Our kids are not caught up, they can't read,” said another parent.

The new test scores are now shining a light on those concerns. However, as our students fall behind, not all city leaders are stepping up.

Founder of Black Minds Matter Denisha Merriweather said she believes these results show a lack in leadership, but also that these students don't have an opportunity to succeed.
