When Friday's winter storm rolled through Maryland, it took down plenty of trees with it, which, in turn, knocked out power to thousands through Monday.

Baltimore Gas and Electric told 11 News its crews are on track to restore service to those still without power by the end of Monday.

BGE brought in an additional 200 contractors Monday to assist its crews to restore power. Even as progress continues, BGE said it has been a challenging holiday weekend.

“We recognize it was an extremely difficult situation for our customers. Any time you're out of power for an extended period of time, but especially when the weather was as cold as it was, and then you add a holiday weekend on top of that, we know it was a rough situation,” BGE spokesman Richard Yost said.

Power outages were only one part of the problem as some people also experienced burst water pipes. Shari Hill, who lives at the Greenwich Place apartments in Owings Mills, told 11 News she awoke to a knock at her door around 2:30 a.m. on Christmas and discovered a water leak in her apartment complex.

“I know I must've emptied that water at least 10 times, honestly, and I'm still at it. It's under my dresser. It's just a mess, and it's starting to smell now. I mean, it's crazy,” Hill said. “Still dealing with it. Nothing from maintenance, management. No phone call. I've sent several emails, emergency calls. Nothing. As of right now, nothing.”
