O’Rourke lost by just under 3 points to Republican Sen.&nbsp;<a class="person-popover__link" href="https://thehill.com/people/ted-cruz/" _mce_href="https://thehill.com/people/ted-cruz/">Ted Cruz&nbsp;</a>(Texas), a surprisingly narrow defeat for a state that has not elected a Democrat to statewide office since 1994.</p>
