Jewish leaders in Toronto, Canada are outraged over an advertisement that reads “anti-apartheid is not antisemitism” above and within a blue Star of David, according to JNS. This comes after Toronto police data showed that Jews were the city’s most targeted group for hate crimes in 2021, and amid the “Toronto for All” campaign launched to address this issue. Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center called the ad “an incredibly disturbing antisemitic advertisement” and filed a complaint to have it removed. This follows a similar incident in December where signs saying “Free Palestine” and “Apartheid Zionist child killers” were displayed in a Jewish Toronto neighborhood.
