Baltimore, MD  – Oct. 9, 2023  – Columbia, Maryland has been recognized as the safest city in America in a 2023 study by WalletHub, according to FOX45. The study assessed over 180 U.S. cities using 41 metrics, which included criteria like traffic fatalities, assaults, unemployment rates, and the percentage of uninsured residents. The top five safest cities are Nashua, NH; Columbia, MD; South Burlington, VT; Gilbert, AZ; and Warwick, RI. Conversely, cities such as Detroit, MI; Baton Rouge, LA; San Bernardino, CA; Fort Lauderdale, FL; and St. Louis, MO found themselves at the bottom of the list. Baltimore was ranked 163 out of the 182 cities evaluated.
