Baltimore, MD – Jan. 3, 2022 – On Tuesday November 29th, 2021 Jeffrey Legum went to Market Maven Supermarket to run some errands. As he approached the store, he realized that he was not well. Soon after, he collapsed and went into cardiac arrest. Thankfully, the staff quickly reacted and called Eli Siegel, Market Maven’s General Manager to help.

Siegel immediately determined that Legum was not breathing and had no pulse, so he began administering CPR. After just under a minute, Legum started showing signs of life- eventually regaining full consciousness.
He was then transported to the hospital by Hatzalah of Baltimore for further evaluation and treatment. He returned home to his family a few days later.
The Legum Family felt they needed to pay it forward and show appreciation for the miracle the family experienced.
They put together a GoFundMe campaign where they raised several thousand dollars for Baltimore’s volunteer Hatzalah EMS organization.
In addition, today, Monday January 3, 2022, Jeffrey Legum’s daughter and son in-law, Gary and Sherry Kassimir of Kassimir Physical Therapy and family, presented Market Maven with a new automatic defibrillator.

Market Maven is now proudly displaying the defibrillator in the front of the store, where it can easily be accessed.
