After receiving 2 to 5 inches of snow on Friday, more wintry weather is on the way for much of Maryland on Saturday night and Sunday. Drivers are urged to pay attention to the forecast before getting on the highways.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for 6 a.m. to noon Sunday because of freezing rain in the forecast. Up to one-tenth of an inch of ice is predicted before the precipitation switches to rain, but re-freeze is possible before the Monday morning commute.

Communities in the advisory include the cities of Baltimore and Frederick, plus Carroll, Baltimore, Montgomery, Howard, Harford counties.

Difficult travel conditions are possible if icy roads and sidewalks materialize, the weather service said.

“The cold conditions leading up to this event may make it a dangerous situation for anyone traveling during this time. Anyone traveling, especially on interstates 270, 70, 95, 695, and 83 should pay close attention to the weather Sunday.”
