Baltimore’s new top prosecutor, Ivan Bates, is set to be sworn into office Tuesday. On the eve of the event, Bates talked to FOX45 News about what happens after what he calls, “the big day.”

From one corner in downtown Baltimore to another residents are responding to the change.

“I think it’s a good thing, I think that we need that in the city,” said longtime resident Gary Johnson.

With Marilyn Mosby out, Ivan Bates steps in as the new city state’s attorney.

People who live in the city, like Johnson, say they’re expecting Bates to make a difference for the better.

“I think that we need that in the city because sometimes I’m out in the city around different neighborhoods and I feel unsafe,” said Johnson.
