The count is official. The Transportation Security Administration said it seized a record number of guns in 2022 at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

TSA said Tuesday that it stopped 35 firearms at BWI Airport security checkpoints last year. That's an increase of a dozen from 2021.

Officers caught a combined 89 handguns last year at the Baltimore-Washington area's three major airports. That's up nearly 24 percent from the 72 guns caught in 2021.

TSA seized 25 guns at Washington Dulles International Airport last year, which is up from the 19 recorded in 2021. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport saw 29 firearm stops in 2022, which is down one from the year prior.
