Rachel “Ruchie” Freier has been appointed as a New York State Supreme Court judge, becoming the first-ever female Chasidic justice in the court, reports Arutz-7. Freier is a Borough Park native, who went to college and law school later in life and faced numerous challenges. Despite these obstacles, she was first elected as a New York City Criminal Court judge in 2016 and has since been appointed to the New York State Supreme Court. Freier is the first female Charedi judge to serve in the US and brings with her values of compassion, kindness, and the importance of giving everyone the benefit of the doubt. Before becoming a judge, Freier founded the charitable organization “Ezrat Nashim,” which provides CPR, medical care, and aid to women during and after childbirth.
