Maryland was ranked the second most educated state in the country, according to a new WalletHub study.

The study on 2023’s most and least educated states in America comes on the heels of a Project Baltimore investigation which found a shocking number of Baltimore City schools where not a single student is doing math at grade level.

In it’s study, WalletHub compared all 50 states across 18 metrics that examined key factors of a well-educated population. Metrics included educational attainment, school quality and achievement gaps between genders and races.

Specifically, the study found Maryland ranked behind Massachusetts and Colorado, securing the third highest percent of Bachelor’s Degree Holders. Maryland also ranked among the top five with the second highest percentage of graduate or professional degree holders.
