Baltimore, MD – Feb. 23, 2023 – Delegate Attar has been spearheading the effort in Annapolis to change the primary Election Day in 2024 due to its conflict with the first day of Pesach. She has sponsored the legislation to change the date and is working in coordination with the Governor, Speaker, Senate President, and Board of Elections to ensure its success.
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott is also calling for the change of the primary election date, which is currently scheduled for April 23, 2024, the first day of Pesach. In his letter (below), Mayor Scott writes, “This is a holy period during which no work can be done, similar to the High Holidays in the fall and each Shabbat.” The efforts of both Delegate Attar and Mayor Scott demonstrate their commitment to working together to protect the interests and needs of our community.
