“I’m always concerned when there’s any kind of violence in Baltimore County first of all. I’m concerned about the fact that there are so many guns out there and that people are willing to use them,” said McCullough.

When asked about concerns of safety that many county residents have addressed, Chief McCullough had this to say.

“As a parent, I clearly understand what they’re saying. But I would also reassure them, as their chief, that we’re doing everything to make Baltimore County a safe place to live and to work and for our children to go to school,” said McCullough.

Chief McCullough was asked if the county would follow the city in implementing a curfew for juveniles. The chief said he could not speak to that since the county currently is not under a curfew, and he pointed out one key difference, that the county is much bigger than the city.

He’s also hoping to fill vacancies within the department. Currently, Baltimore County Police are short 219 officers.
