This week at City Hall, Baltimore Police presented numbers to the city council regarding juvenile crime numbers.

According to Baltimore City Police, the instances of juvenile violent crimes have spiked.

When it comes to homicides, ten juveniles have been arrested, between the ages of 10 and 17 years old.

Of those ten arrests, 8 of those suspects were armed with a gun.

Deputy Commissioner Richard Worley explained just how much juvenile homicides and shootings have increased.

“67 percent increase in youth homicides, 55 percent in youth shootings,” said Worley.

So far this year, 37 juveniles aged 10 to 17 have been arrested for robbery, 68 for aggravated assault, and 7 for carjacking.

12-year-old Jaylen Richards was on house arrest for carjacking when he was gunned down last month by an assault rifle.
