IDF fighter jets early Sunday morning struck an anti-aircraft battery in Syria, as a response to the launch of an anti-aircraft rocket from Syria into Israeli territory hours earlier, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said.
In addition, the fighter jets struck additional targets in the area.
An initial inquiry revealed that the anti-aircraft rocket which was launched overnight from Syria into Israeli territory, exploded in the air within Israeli territory.
No injuries were reported and no special instructions for civilians on the Israeli home front have been issued.
Earlier, just prior to 1:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, Israelis in several areas around the country reported hearing explosions. Magen David Adom (MDA) and Israel Police received reports of an explosion which was heard in Jerusalem, Modi’in, Ramat Gan, Petah Tikva, the Sharon region, Ashkelon, and Be’er Sheva.
