Baltimore, MD – Aug. 30, 2023  – Light Street in downtown Baltimore was closed on Wednesday afternoon due to a natural gas rupture involving a 36-inch gas main, according to WBALTV. The Baltimore City Fire Department reported that the rupture occurred while a Baltimore Gas and Electric crew was working in the area and damaged a valve. No injuries were reported. Officials are advising drivers to avoid the intersection of Baltimore and Redwood streets. Mitigation efforts are underway and could continue into early Thursday morning.
